Officials from Mortenson Construction, NexCore Group and Silver Cross Hospital recently broke ground on a new Medical Services Building in New Lenox, Ill.
The 182,000-sq-ft facility will play a key role in integrating inpatient and outpatient services at the 76-acre Silver Cross Replacement Hospital campus.
“The new hospital campus is located in one of the fastest growing areas in Illinois, 3 mi from its current location,” says Greg Werner, vice president of Mortenson Construction.
Mortenson Construction serves as the construction management firm for the new building, as well as the state-of-the-art Silver Cross Replacement Hospital.
NexCore Group provides planning, financing, leasing, and property/asset management services for the project. RTKL Architects designed the new facility.
The new MSB connects to the new hospital on three levels, including the main lobby, and will share many of the hospital’s amenities including concierge, outdoor serenity garden, valet parking, and physician-dedicated parking.
The new building will be connected to an adjacent medical office building through a shared lobby, easing movement of patients and staff and facilitating the sharing of services.
Meanwhile, construction of the $400 million, 289-bed Silver Cross Replacement Hospital proceeds on schedule. The new hospital is scheduled to open in 2012.
The new Medical Services Building will open in fourth quarter 2011.
