Indiana Student Wins NADC Scholarship
Meghan Steuer, a student at Lowell High School in Lowell,
Ind., has won the $5,000 Bill & Wanda Baker Scholarship
from the National Association of Demolition Contractors in
Doylestown, Pa.
Steuer was the president of her high school's National Honor
Society and plans to study law in college. Chicago-based Brandenburg
Industrial Service Co. had nominated her.
The NADC awards annual scholarships to students who have demonstrated
a commitment to serving the local community while maintaining
high academic standards. Four other award winners were also
announced.
ASA Chicago Names New Leaders
The Des Plaines-based Association of Subcontractors &
Affiliates/ASA Chicago has elected officers and directors
for the 2003 and 2004 term.
The comprise President Mike Basler, account executive for
Lake Forest-based Office Concepts; Vice President Karen Johnson,
president of Morton Grove-based Roughneck Concrete Drilling
& Sawing; Secretary Dennis Brown, president of Arlington
Heights-based Commercial Carpentry Corp.; and Secretary Kay
Anagnos, president of Justice-based Anagnos Door Co.
Eric Ringstad, president of Bensenville-based Prime Scaffold
Inc., remains on the executive committee as an ex-officio
member.
Four members were elected to three-year terms on the group's
Board of Directors: Art Arriaga of Arlington Heights-based
A and C Electric Co.; Michael Hancock of Franklin Park-based
Divane Bros. Electric Co.; Robert Smith of Northbrook-based
The Levy Co.; and John Wysockey of Gary, Ind.-based Thatcher
Engineering Corp.
Six members of the ASA board have terms remaining.
Milwaukee AGC Moves
The Associated General Contractors of Greater Milwaukee has
moved to 10400 Innovation Drive, suite 210.
The office is reached by taking Highway 45, exiting west on
Watertown Plank Road and looking for Innovation Drive in the
Milwaukee County Research Park.

CECI Installs New Board
The Springfield-based Consulting Engineers Council of Illinois
has recently installed its Board of Directors for 2003 and
2004.
They include President David Oates, president of Collinsville-based
Oates Associates Inc.; President-Elect Christopher Burke,
president of Rosemont-based Christopher B. Burke Engineering
Ltd.; and Immediate Past-President James Messmore, vice president
of the Oak Brook office of Springfield-based Hanson Professional
Services.
Also named were Secretary-Treasurer Don Rutledge, secretary
of the Bloomington-based Farnsworth Group; Senior Vice President
Reginald Benton, president of Jacksonville-based Benton &
Associates Inc.; and Vice Presidents Peter Mesha, group president
of Downers Grove-based Wight & Co.; Daniel Goodwin, principal
of Springfield-based SECOR International; and Mohammad Hassan,
vice president and Chicago area transportation manager of
Rolling Meadows-based URS Corp.
Ken Nelson, executive vice president of Chicago-based Clark
Dietz Inc., will continue to serve as the National Director
to the American Council of Engineering Cos.

Indiana BCA Names Five Construction Scholars
The Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Building Contractors Association
has announced the 2002-2003 Construction Career Academy winners.
The Achievement Award, which goes to a student entering an
apprenticeship program, went to Adam Beer of Angola High School
in Angola.
The Scholarship Awards, which are presented to students entering
a traditional post-secondary educational institution, went
to Adam Blinn or Norwell High School in Ossian; Jack Gentis
of Southern Wells High School in Poneto; Jason Gerber of Bluffton
High School in Bluffton; and Steven Glass of Southwood High
School in Wabash.
All students received $500.
The awards follow from a series of school-year sessions during
which high school students are taught about 18 different construction
industry trades and professions.
Forty-eight students from 16 high schools graduated from the
Academy, allowing them to apply for the scholarships.
