Report: Equipment Leasing to Grow
Leasing of construction equipment is projected to grow eight
to 10 percent in 2004 and 2005, a study says.
The same report says that lease financing is expected to reach
$12.5 billion in 2004 and $13.5 billion in 2005. This compares
to $11.4 billion in 2003 and $10.5 billion in 2002.
The projections are made in "Construction and Agricultural
Equipment Leasing, 2004: U.S. Market Dynamics and Outlook."
The Arlington, Va.-based Equipment Leasing Association and
White Plains, N.Y.-based R.S. Carmichael & Co., a marketing
research and management-consulting firm, issued the study.
Other key findings include the following:
Ticket sizes range between $25,000 and $5 million but mainly
fall between $25,000 and $250,000 with average terms being
three to five years.
Lease financing of construction equipment is most prevalent
in earthmoving, road building and forestry.
Replacement demand of leased equipment is projected to
sustain the construction market growth through 2004 and 2005.
Organizations can purchase a copy of the study, which is $699
for members of the ELA and $999 for nonmembers, by calling
703-527-8655 or by visiting www.elaonline.com/elastore.
