| ASHRAE Honors Five
Midwesterners Five Midwesterners were recently recognized for their contributions
to air-conditioning and heating.
The honors come from the Atlanta-based
American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers Inc.
Two
individuals were honored with ASHRAE Technology Awards, which recognize outstanding
achievements who have successfully applied innovative building designs and incorporated
ASHRAE standards for effective energy management and indoor air quality.
Lev
Zvenyach, vice president of Waukesha-based IBC Engineering Services, received
a first-place award for the Chicago Center for Green Technology in the existing
buildings category.
Mehdi Jalayerian, senior vice president of Chicago-based
Environmental Systems Design, received an honorable mention for the Exelon Elevator
and Stair Pavilions North in Chicago's Millennium Park in the alternative and/or
renewable use category.
Three Purdue University faculty members were elevated
to the grade of Fellows, James Braun, professor of mechanical engineering, Qingyan
Chen, professor of COMING and David Tree, professor of mechanical engineering.
Henderson Gets Lake County First Gurnee-based
Jos. J. Henderson & Son Inc. has won the first-ever Award for Project Excellence,
or Apex, from the Lake County (Ill.) Contractors Association.
The honor
comes for the Lake Forest (Ill.) Water Treatment Plant Membrane Rehabilitation
Project. A panel comprised of three judges selected the project.
The contest
was open to LCCA member company projects completed in the 2004 that demonstrate
quality of construction, quality of engineering, impact on the community and Lake
County, spirit of cooperation and project safety record.
Rocole Named Chief of Milwaukee
Contractors Larry Rocole, vice president of the Milwaukee Division of Janesville-based
J.P. Cullen & Sons, was installed as president of the Associated General Contractors
of Greater Milwaukee.
Also installed were Senior Vice President Dave Jones,
president/treasurer of Pewaukee-based Jens Construction; and Treasurer Craig Jorgenson,
president of Pewaukee-based VJS Construction Services. Tom Miotke, chairman of
Milwaukee-based J.P. Jansen Co. is the immediate past president.
Other
officers include Director George Minnich, senior vice president of Butler-based
Berghammer Construction Corp., and Associate Director Dawn Pratt, human resource
director of Waukesha-based Payne & Dolan Inc.
Landscapers to Sponsor Mentor Program The Washington,
D.C.-based American Society of Landscape Architects has announced that it will
be a national sponsor and partner of the Architecture, Construction and Engineering,
or ACE, Mentor Program.
ACE targets young adults to introduce them to the
challenges and rewards of a career in the design and construction industry and
makes a special effort to reach out to minority and underserved populations.
ECA Names Officers The Westchester-based Electrical Contractors
Association of the City of Chicago has elected its officers for 2006.
The
president is I. Steven Diamond, president of Morton Grove-based Malko Electric
Co., and the vice president is Brad Weir, vice president and treasurer of Rockford-based
Kelso-Burnett Co.
Mark Nemshick is the ECA's executive vice president,
secretary and chapter manager.
An executive committee of 14 individuals
in the electrical contracting industry was also named.
