Sheet Metal Chief Gets Two Hoosier Honors
Michael Sullivan, general president of the Washington, D.C.-based
Sheet Metal Workers International Association, received two
honors.
He was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash Award, the highest
honor in the state, from Gov. Joseph Kernan. The annual award
recognizes outstanding contributions to Indiana.
Sullivan was also presented with Ivy Tech State College's
Labor Hall of Fame Award, an honor for contributions of Indiana
labor leaders to the economy and trade education.
"Because of [Sullivan's] vision, thousands of Hoosiers
are not only obtaining their journeyman's certificate, but
also a two-year associate's degree," said Gerald Lamkin,
president of Ivy Tech, a 23-campus technical college based
in Indianapolis.
Strand Opens Indianapolis Office
Madison, Wis.-based Strand Associates Inc. has announced
the opening of a new office in Indianapolis.
In 2002, Strand acquired SIECO Engineers headquartered in
Columbus. With the acquisition and the new office in Indianapolis,
the firm said it will be able to better serve the eight-county
area.
Strand is a multidisciplinary engineering firm. It has over
340 employees with offices in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Alabama,
Wisconsin and Illinois.
