Culture District Plan Complete The Cultural Development Commission in Indianapolis
recently announced the completion of the Indiana Avenue Cultural District Working
Plan.
The plan details the district's positioning statement, assets and
strengths, challenges, priorities and key strategies. It also captures and unifies
the stakeholders' ideas.
Consistent with the five other Indianapolis districts,
the team of Indianapolis-based marketing firms RLR Associates and Three-Sixty
Group will lead Indiana Avenue stakeholders through the development of unique
identity and marketing tools. Once complete, the identity will be rolled out with
the other districts this year.
The district also has received the Lt. Governor's
Quality of Place Initiative grant of $63,750. The grant was designed to develop
an innovative amenity and cultural asset program by supporting research of new
and significant tourism products.
Indiana Avenue, originally a part of
the Canal & White River State Park District, became a stand-alone district
in March in recognition of its rich history and heritage. The attractions and
activity on the avenue also contributed to its designation.
Nonprofit promotion
firm Indianapolis Downtown Inc. and others have been working with Indiana Avenue
stakeholders since March when the area was designated Indianapolis' newest district. |
