Expansion The Indianapolis Children's Museum has announced a $56
million expansion of the Meridian Street facility. The expansion includes
what might be the world's largest dinosaur exhibit, the Dinosphere, according
to Indianapolis-based Shiel Sexton, the construction manager on the project. Other
project elements include a multilevel parking garage, pedestrian bridge over Illinois
Street and addition. Green Building Group Gets Indiana
Chapter An Indiana chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council has
been chartered. Already, the new chapter has more than 20 member organizations,
including BSA LifeStructures, which reportedly led the effort. The council
brings together architects, engineers, building owners, government leaders, university
facility administrators, contractors and developers to promote green buildings. The
U.S. Green Building Council is rewarding buildings that meet specific criteria
through a certification program call LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy
and Environmental Design. LEED is a rating system that uses specific criteria
to determine whether a building is a true green design. |
