Varsity Assignment At Notre Dame

The Don F. and Flora Guglielmino Family Athletic Center is planned for the campus of the University of Notre Dame.

The interior will house football locker rooms, offices and meeting rooms and will provide space for the university's 800 student-athletes. Spaces will be used for training, sports medicine and conditioning.

The 94,840-sq.-ft. facility will adjoin the west side of the university's Loftus Center.
Ground break was to occur in the spring, and completion is expected in fall 2005.

Rosemont, Ill.-based McShane Construction is the design-builder. Chicago-based Solomon Cordwell Buenz & Associates Inc. is the architect.

Ratio Merges With Illinois Design Firm

Indianapolis-based Ratio Architects Inc. has agreed to merge with Severns, Reid & Associates Inc. of Champaign, Ill.

The Ratio name will be kept, though the Champaign office will become Ratio Severns Reid Architects for a 12-month transition period.

The two have collaborated on several projects for the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, including the Irwin Indoor Football Practice Facility, Memorial Stadium Press Box and Suite Feasibility Press Box and the Central Campus Chiller Plant.
