Baxter & Woodman Announces Three Promotions and a Retirement

Industry leader Jim Ryan dies; Bulley & Andrews nearly triples number of LEED-accredited staff

Albert Mark has joined the Chicago office of Wight & Co., Darien, Ill., as project executive. Mark was previously an architect with the city of Chicago.

Scott Wilson has been promoted to vice president for Wisconsin environmental services at Ayres Associates, an engineering and architectural firm in Eau Claire, Wis. The environmental division includes 18 total staff members from Ayres’ Eau Claire, Madison, and Waukesha, Wis., offices.

Tom Milton was named technical director of WoodWorks North-central and will be based in Maple Grove, Minn. He was previously an engineered-wood specialist for the Engineered Wood Association. He will provide technical assistance that helps designing and building professionals understand wood-product-related building codes, standard provisions, and best practices in non-residential projects.

Jeff Hoffman has joined Eppstein Uhen Architects, Milwaukee, as a senior-living specialist. Hoffman has more than 20 years of client-development experience. For the past 10 years, he has been responsible for project development and client relationships for two construction companies. His projects included 17 facilities for a national assisted- living company.

Richard Seiler has joined Becker Electrical Group Inc., Kenosha, Wis., as executive vice president. He has 24 years of experience in the construction industry and holds a CBA in business administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in administrative justice from Southern Illinois University.

Holly Bolton

Holly Bolton has joined CE Solutions, Inc., a structural engineering firm in Carmel, Ind., as director of marketing. Bolton was previously associate director of public relations and communications for BSA LifeStructures. She has 10 years’ experience in marketing and communications and has worked in the architecture and engineering industry since 2001.

Anna Saindon has joined Geotechnology Inc., St. Louis, as a senior engineer in the firm’s environmental group. She has more than 10 years of experience working on environmental and geotechnical projects.

Davind Callan

David Callan has been named a senior vice president and the chief technical director at Environmental Systems Design (ESD), Chicago. He will lead ESD’s Technical Directors and Building Sciences Group.

Duane Kreuger has been promoted to environmental group manager at Geotechnology Inc., St. Louis. Kreuger has been with Geotechnology for17 years, most of that time in the environmental group.

Thomas Huerter has been promoted to principal consultant for the non-destructive testing line of Professional Services Inc. (PSI), Oak Brook Terrace, Ill. He has been with PSI since 2006.

Andrew Skwor of MSA Professional Services, Baraboo, Wis., is the 41st person in Wisconsin to become a certified professional of erosion and sediment control (CPESC). The certification indicates he is a recognized specialist in preparing erosion-control plans and implementation guidelines for the design and construction of projects. Skwor has 10 years of experience working on bridge and highway design and construction teams with municipalities, state transportation departments, agencies, and private clients.

James A. Rispoli, Booz Allen Hamilton executive advisor and former U.S. Dept. of Energy assistant secretary has been named by American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) to serve as the inaugural chair of its Industry Leaders Council (ILC). The ILC advises the ASCE in identifying emerging industry trends, and engages executive-level leaders from industry, academia, government and non-governmental organizations to identify strategic actions for both the Society and the civil engineering profession.

Jason Atkisson, technical leader for mechanical design at Clark Dietz Inc., has completed the Engineering Future Leaders in Illinois program offered by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois. This program prepares engineers in handling the responsibilities of management and leadership and reviews topics such as communication, teamwork, responsibility, problem solving, and business management.

Bulley & Andrews, Chicago, has announced that during 2009 it has nearly tripled the number of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-accredited employees on its staff, to a total of 28. The company says it now has six LEED-registered projects to its credit, one having achieved LEED Platinum certification.

On May 28, Jim Ryan , CEO of Ryan Companies U.S. Inc., Minneapolis, Minn., died after 10 months of battling melanoma. He was 66. Ryan helped transform his family’s Minnesota construction business into one of the nation’s leading real estate design-build development and construction firms. Jim Ryan had been CEO of Ryan companies since 1989, when he took over from his father and uncle, who had founded the company in 1938. The company’s Midwest Region is headquartered in Naperville, Ill. The company also operates offices in Hibbing and Minneapolis, Minn.; Phoenix; San Diego; Tampa, Fla.; and Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, and Davenport, Iowa.

Baxter & Woodman Inc. , a consulting engineering firm in Crystal Lake, Ill., has elected Deborah Finn, Louis D. Haussmann and Christopher T. Sosnowski as vice presidents of the firm and to seats on its board of directors. Deborah Finn joined the firm in 1994 and is director of marketing. Louis D. Haussmann joined the firm in 1996 and is transportation group leader, managing transportation engineers in nine offices throughout northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. Christopher T. Sosnowski joined the firm in 1997 and is general manager of B&W Control Systems Integration, a wholly owned, technology-focused subsidiary of Baxter & Woodman, Inc. Also, Baxter & Woodman has expressed its thanks to former President/CEO Darrel Gavle, who retired this spring after serving the company in a variety of capacities for 37 years. He was elected to the board of directors in 1988 and had been company president and CEO since 1999.

Gaylor Inc. , Carmel, Ind., has acquired Griffith Group Inc, of Lafayette, Ind. Gaylor ranks among the largest electrical contractors in the Indianapolis area. Griffith Group is an electrical, heating and cooling contractor that has 25 employees. A Gaylor spokesperson said that the acquisition of Griffith Group will enable the company to better serve electrical customers along Interstate 65 in western Indiana.
