Hill/Ahern Fire Protection recently named Shannon Coomes as general manager of its Franklin Park, Ill., operation.
Coomes brings more than 10 years of industry experience to the position. She holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and most recently served as branch manager with another Chicago-area fire protection contractor.
Miron Construction Co. Inc. has hired a new senior project manager. Andre Lorenzen will serve in Miron’s Milwaukee office. Lorenzen has more than 16 years of experience in the construction industry, having most recently served as project manager for a large general construction firm located in Milwaukee.
Lorenzen is a graduate of UW-Platteville with a bachelor’s degree in industrial technology with an emphasis on construction management and a minor in business administration.
William Rice, a senior water resources engineer, recently was named an assistant vice president at Hanson Professional Services Inc. in Springfield, Ill.
With more than 30 years of water resources and surveying experience, he serves as the technical lead for Hanson’s water resources services.
Rice joined the firm in 2004, helping Hanson establish and grow its water resources practice. His experience includes flood control design, levee design, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, dam operations and drainage studies as well as extensive surveying experience.
Daniel Fahey was recently promoted to manager of field operations and quality control for Tarlton Corp., a St. Louis-based general contracting and construction management firm.
Fahey has wide-ranging experience as a project manager, project superintendent and journeyman carpenter, having worked 17 years in the construction industry and two years at Tarlton. His work includes projects for clients including AG Edwards Inc., Anheuser-Busch InBev, the City of Clayton, GTE Corp. and Washington University in St. Louis.
Findorff of Madison, Wis., recently announced the promotion of Mike Stern to project engineer. In this position, Stern will be responsible for assisting project managers and superintendents with the coordination of day-to-day activity for a multitude of projects. Stern is currently working on jobs at ProHealth – Sussex and UW Parkside. A Findorff employee since August 2009, Stern previously worked as a co-ip/untern in both the Madison and Milwaukee offices.
Robert G. Brinkmann, founder of St. Louisbased Brinkmann Constructors, has named long-time key managers Brian Satterthwaite as president and Tom Oberle as executive vice president. Brinkmann assumes the position of chief executive officer.
Satterthwaite will lead day-to-day operations with Oberle focused on project acquisition and pre-construction planning, including value engineering.
BMW Constructors of Indianapolis recently announced that its Board of Directors has elected Brian K. Acton president and chief operating officer of the company, reporting to Thomas E. O’Brien, who will continue as chairman and chief executive officer.
ABC Supply Co. Inc. has promoted Rick Freiberg, manager of its Indianapolis store, to managing partner. Freiberg joined ABC Supply in 2003 and was named manager of the Indianapolis branch in 2006.
As a managing partner, he will continue to oversee the Indianapolis branch and will take on additional responsibilities.
Crawford, Murphy & Tilly Inc. consulting engineers of Springfield, Ill., recently announced the promotion of Jeffery Large to senior engineer following his recent registration as a professional engineer in Illinois. Large has been employed with Crawford, Murphy & Tilly Inc. since June 2006 where he is assigned to the firm’s Water and Wastewater Group. Large specializes in structural engineering.
