Joan Suchomel was named senior medical planner of Chicago-based Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP. She was previously associate vice president in Chicago of Baltimore-based RTKL Associates Inc. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP is an architecture firm.

Stan HeidemannM was appointed CEO and continues as president of Park Ridge, Ill.-based Ragnar Benson Inc. He succeeds the retiring James Bergstrom who served as CEO for 39 years. Heidemann previously held the title of chief operating officer, in addition to president. Ragnar Benson Inc. is a construction services organization.

Anthony Fiorato, president and CEO of Skokie, Ill.-based Construction Technology Laboratories Inc., was named vice chairman of the American Society of Testing and Materials International in West Conshohocken, Pa. ASTM International is a standards development organization.

Dirk Lohan, principal of Chicago-based Lohan Caprile Goettsch Architects, has departed the firm. He plans to start his own practice.

James Messmore was promoted to senior vice president of Springfield, Ill.-based Hanson Professional Services Inc. Messmore, who is based in Oak Brook, Ill., was previously vice president and manager. Hanson Professional Services Inc. provides architectural engineering and management services.

Michael Fink was appointed vice president in the civil engineering unit of Chicago-based A. Epstein and Sons International Inc. He was previously project engineering and project manager with Chicago-based Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLC. A. Epstein and Sons International is an architecture, engineering, construction and interior design firm.

Andrew Johnson, general superintendent/corporate safety officer for Oak Brook, Ill.-based Krusinski Construction Co., was named outstanding general superintendent of 2003-2004, announced the Association of Subcontractors & Affiliates/ASA Chicago. He was nominated by subcontractors he works with regularly.

Craig Schulz was named director of market research for the Skokie, Ill.-based Portland Cement Association. He was previously the vice president of marketing for the Steel Service Center Institute in Chicago.

Kyle St. Peter was promoted to director of marketing and office principal for the 15-state North Central Region of St. Louis-based Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum Inc. He continues as group vice president and marketing director. Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum Inc. is an architecture and engineering firm.

Gregory Randall was named principal of Chicago-based Guajardo REC, the firm previously known as Guajardo Associates LLC Architects. He was previously a design principal with DeStefano and Partners in Chicago. Guajardo RED Architects LLC is an architecture, planning and interior design firm.

J.P. Cullen & Sons Inc. of Janesville, Wis., announced several employees have earned the American Society for Healthcare Engineering Construction Certification: David Baran, Robert Coleman, Guy Hall, Robert Klaas, Tom Middleton, Tom Pertzborn and Jeremy Shecterle. The certification recognizes individuals who have an understanding of the unique challenges faced in the health care construction. J.P. Cullen & Sons Inc. is a general contractor.

McShane Construction Corp. of Rosemont, Ill., has announced B.J. Korman was promoted to project engineer II from project engineer I. Anthony Cincinelli joined the firm as project engineer II. He was previously a project manager for the Illinois office of Dallas-based Trammell Crow Co. McShane Construction Corp. offers design-build and build-to-suit services.

Kiferbaum Construction Corp. of Deerfield, Ill., has announced the promotions of Greg Suthers to senior superintendent and Drue Stoehr to project engineer II. Suthers was previously superintendent, and Stoehr was previously project engineer I. Kiferbaum Construction Corp. offers design-build and build-to-suit services.

Dean O'Brien was promoted to vice president of finance for Itasca, Ill.-based FCL Builders Inc. He was previously project financial manager/systems coordinator. FCL Builders Inc. is a design-build firm.

William Richter was promoted to senior project manager of Burr Ridge, Ill.-based Klein Construction Services Inc. He was previously a project manager. Klein Construction Services Inc. is a design-build contractor.

J.F. Ahern Co. of Fond du Lac, Wis., has announced the promotions of Fred Olson to chief estimator from estimator and Mark Jaeger to drafting manager from project engineer. Bonnie Wells joined the firm as quality control inspector. She was previously level II inspector for Cooperheat-MQS in Milwaukee. J.F. Ahern Co. is a mechanical and fire-protection contractor.

Eric Borgman was named Construction Division project manager for Woodridge, Ill.-based V3 Infrastructure Services Ltd. He was previously a senior construction representative for Alfred Benesch & Co. in Chicago. V3 Infrastructure Services Ltd. provides services planning, design and resident engineering needs to government agencies.

Douglas Barnes Jr. was named project manager II in Lombard, Ill., for Minneapolis-based Harmon Inc. He was previously in sales and estimating for Alsip, Ill.-based Trainor Glass Co. Harmon Inc. provides glass services.

Robert Holdener was promoted to group manager in Fairview Heights, Ill., of Dayton, Ohio-based Woolpert LLP. He was previously project manager. Woolpert LLP is an engineering and architecture consulting firm.
