Names In The News - June 2004

James McHugh Construction Co. of Chicago has announced the promotions of five employees to executive positions, including Michael Gould to vice president for heavy construction and infrastructure operations from project manager; Robert Mortimer, to vice president of operations from senior project manager; and Ralph Pound, to vice president of risk management from director of risk management. Also promoted were Sheila Donna Sheridan and Michael Whelan, each to chief estimator from senior project manager. James McHugh Construction Co. is a general contracting, construction management and consulting firm.

J.P. Cullen & Sons Inc. of Janesville, Wis., has announced the promotions of Chad Schakelman to general construction estimator from estimator in the Rigging & Erecting Division and Kendall McWilliams to project manager in the Industrial/Rigging & Erection Division, the unit's new name. New hires include Ryan Riemenschneider as general construction estimator; Christie Kruckenberg as executive assistant to the vice president of project manager; Dawn Lowrey as executive assistant to the Industrial/Rigging & Erection Division Manager; and Doug Ihlenfeldt as production engineer. J.P. Cullen& Sons Inc. is a general contractor.

BSA LifeStructures of Indianapolis has announced the promotions of Geoffrey Lisle and Henry Stellema to principal status. Also promoted were six to the associate principal level: Jeff Bischoff, Peter Langowski, Peter Schilling, Andy Lane, Gary Vance and Kerry Dunn. BSA LifeStructures is an architecture firm.

Legat Architects Inc. of Waukegan, Ill., has announced the promotions of Dominick Demonica and Patrick Brosnan to principal. Demonica continues as director of higher education, and Brosnan as director of PreK-12 Education. Legat Architects is a design firm.

The Rise Group of Chicago has announced William Paulson was hired as senior project manager and Earl Manning as project manager. Paulson was previously senior program manager for Chicago-based McClier, and Manning was previously managing deputy commissioner for the city of Chicago's Bureau of Plan Examination & Permit Issuance. The Rise Group provides construction program and project management services.

Jim Clapper was named a sales representative in Arlington Heights, Ill., for the Waukesha, Wis.-based Spancrete Group Inc. He was previously a regional sales manager for Indianapolis-based Rinker Materials. The Spancrete Group Inc. produces precast concrete components.

Thomas McGing was promoted to principal of Chicago-based STR Consulting LLC, the cost estimating and scheduling division of STR Partners LLC Architects. He was previously senior construction consultant. STR is an architecture and interior design firm.

McMahon Associates Inc. of Neenah, Wis., has announced Jerry Franklin was named project engineer in the Transportation/Public Works Group and Anthony Kappell as project engineer in the Processing Engineering Group. Franklin was previously an area supervisor/engineer for Vinton Construction Co. in Manitowoc, and Kappell was previously a student. McMahon Associates Inc. is an engineering, architecture and surveying firm.

J.F. Ahern Co. of Fond du Lac, Wis., has announced Tammy Nowland was promoted to marketing coordinator from marketing administrative assistant. Kristen Schultz was named graphic designer. She was previously a graphic artist for Oshkosh, Wis.-based Creative Management Marketing Resources. J.F. Ahern Co. is a mechanical and fire protection contractor.

Bryan Walker was promoted project manager of Bannockburn, Ill.-based Principle Construction Corp. He was previously project engineer II. Principle Construction Corp. is a design-build firm.

McShane Construction Corp. of Rosemont, Ill., has announced Keith Borgstrom was named project manager and David Denley as project engineer. Borgstrom was previously a project manager for the Chapple Design/Build subsidiary of Minneapolis-based The Ryan Cos., and Denley was previously a student. McShane Construction Corp. design-build and build-to-suit services.

R.A. Smith & Associates Inc. of Brookfield, Wis., has announced the promotions of Brian Pluemer to project manager from project engineer and Daniel Meier also to project manager from project engineer in the firm's National Survey & Engineering division. Michael Pasche joined National Survey as project manager. He previously owned and managed his own consulting firm, Concord LLC in Fort Wayne, Ind. R.A. Smith & Associates Inc. is a civil engineering, planning, surveying and technical services consultant.

Reid Ribble, president of the Kaukauna, Wis.-based The Ribble Group, was elected 2004-2005 senior vice president of the National Roofing Contractors Association in Des Plaines, Ill.

Steven Kleba was named area manager for Alsip, Ill.-based McAllister Equipment Co. He was previously laborer/foreman for Elgin, Ill.-based Plote Construction Inc. McAllister Equipment Co. is a construction equipment dealer.

Jeff Hill, project manager in Chicago for Odenton, Md.-based Hayward Baker, a geotechnical contractor, was named to manage the St. Louis office, which will offer its services in southern Illinois, in addition to other areas.

Ryan Cos. of Minneapolis has announced Derek Speer and Martin Walz were named project managers in the Naperville, Ill., office. Speer was previously project manager for Itasca, Ill.-based FCL Builders, and Walz transferred from the headquarters office, where he had been a project manager. Ryan Cos. offers design-build services.
