Names In The News - July 2004

Douglas Lim was named senior business development manager in Chicago for Providence, R.I.-based Gilbane. He was previously a project executive with Bovis Lend Lease. Gilbane is a construction and development firm.

Sheila Cahnman has joined the Chicago office of St. Louis-based Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum Inc. as vice president and principal. She was previously vice president/managing principal in Chicago for Charlotte, N.C.-based HLM Design. HOK is an architecture firm.

Jerry Krusinski was promoted to president and chief operating officer of Oak Brook, Ill.-based Krusinski Construction Co. He was previously executive vice president. Krusinski Construction Co. is a general contractor.

Roberta Marstellar was promoted to vice president of certification for the Chicago-based American Institute of Steel Construction Inc. She was previously director of the steel solutions center, an AISC subsidiary. AISC is a technical institute.

Jim Hans was named vice president of healthcare services of Neenah, Wis.-based Miron Construction Co. Inc. He was previously senior vice president and general manager of Marshall Erdman & Associates in Madison, Wis. Miron provides construction services.

B. Robert Tessiatore was named manager of highways and bridges of Downers Grove, Ill.-based Wight & Co. He was previously group director in Chicago for Kansas City, Mo.-based HNTB Cos. Wight provides architecture, construction and engineering services.

Suzanne Lanyi Charles was promoted to vice president of Chicago-based Booth Hansen. She was previously an associate. Booth Hansen is an architecture firm.

Bodine Electric of Decatur, Ill., has announced the promotions of Jeanne Jones to vice president of administration, Mark Laughery to Decatur branch manager of the Electrical Contracting Division and Rick Long to manager of construction estimating.
Jones was previously assistant to the president, Laughery was previously senior estimator, project manager and general foreman and Long was previously senior estimator and branch manager of the Springfield, Ill., and Lafayette, Ind., offices.
Bodine provides contracting, wholesaling and repair services.

J.P. Cullen and Sons Inc. of Janesville, Wis., has announced Daniel Swanson, vice president of project management, was appointed to serve on the Quality in Construction Committee for the Associated General Contractors of America in Alexandria, Va. Senior Project Manager James Schumacher received the Chief's Award from the University of Wisconsin Police Department for preparing Camp Randall Stadium for 78,000 people while major construction was under way. J.P. Cullen is a general contractor.

OWP/P of Chicago has announced five were promoted from associate to senior associate level: Phil Gibisch, Leslie North, Chester Olszewski, Suzanne Carney and Joseph Talamantez. Also, 10 Midwest employees were elevated to associate status:
George Beach, Patricia Canedo, Jill Gimesky, Doug Gottschalk, Scott Hartman, Rachel Hibbard, Troy Hoggard, Chris Lambert, Michael Sullivan and Vanessa Wooley. OWP/P is an architecture firm.

DeStefano and Partners Ltd. of Chicago announced the promotions of five project architects and senior architects. John Hill was advanced to senior associate, and Gabriela Miramon, Melissa Clark, Hunseock Shin and Christos Yiannias were elevated to associate status. DeStefano provides architecture services.

BSA LifeStructures of Indianapolis has promoted nine employees to senior associate: Steve Bauer, Miguel Betancourt, Brett Bonenberger, Karen Courtney, Sam Jackson, Daniel McDaniel, Dan Miles, Todd Reust and Clay Springer. BSA LifeStructures is an architecture firm.

Diane Banning was promoted to director of marketing and named executive assistant of Itasca, Ill.-based FCL Builders Inc. She was previously administrative assistant to the president. FCL provides design/build services.

John Yacukowicz was named sales development/project manager for Fond du Lac, Wis.-based J.F. Ahern Co. He was previously co-owner of Thermo Dynamic Systems in Menomonee Falls, Wis. J.F. Ahern is a mechanical and fire protection contractor.

David Pflipsen was promoted to senior engineer of Rock Island, Ill.-based KJWW Engineering Consultants. He was previously a mechanical engineer. KJWW is an engineering firm.

Kiferbaum Construction Corp. of Deerfield, Ill., has announced the promotions of Julie Mahnich to project engineer II and Robert Malachowski to superintendent.
Mahnich was previously project engineer I, and Malachowski was previously assistant superintendent. Kiferbaum offers design-build and build-to-suit services.

R.A. Smith & Associates Inc. of Brookfield, Wis., has announced Alissa Bails, geographic information systems division manager, has met the standards and requirements established by the in Park Ridge, Ill.-based GIS Certification Institute to become a certified GIS professional. Project Engineer Andrew Schultz has obtained registration as a professional engineer in Wisconsin. R.A. Smith is a civil engineering, planning, surveying and technical services consultant.

Michael Kinsala was promoted to area manager of Alsip, Ill.-based McAllister Equipment Co. and will be based in the Ingleside, Ill., location. He was previously a product support representative. McAllister is a construction equipment dealership.
