Fifield Cos. of Chicago has announced the promotions of Rick Cavenaugh to president and chief operation officer and Richard Blum to executive vice president and principal. Cavenaugh was previously executive vice president, and Blum was previously senior vice president. Fifield is a developer.

Brian Kronewitter was named construction executive in Elk Grove Village of Minneapolis-based M.A. Mortenson Co. He was previously division president of Downers Grove-based Wight Construction Services Inc. Mortenson is a general contractor.

Ratio Architects Inc. of Indianapolis has announced Rob Proctor was promoted to principal and David Kroll to associate principal. Proctor was previously associate principal, and Kroll was previously senior associate. Ratio is a design firm.

Brian Umbright, vice president of Chicago-based engineering firm Bowman, Barrett & Associates Inc., has received the 2005 Civil and Environmental Engineering Alumni Association's Young Civil Engineer Achievement Award from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The honor recognizes a graduate who has attained an unusual amount of success by the age of 35.

CG Schmidt of Milwaukee has announced Keith Swenson was promoted to vice president of estimating and Kellie Williams was named project accountant. Swenson was previously director of estimating, and Williams was previously an employee with New Berlin, Wis.-based Wenninger Co. Schmidt is a general contractor.

Michael DeBlauw was promoted to senior project manager of Rosemont-based McShane Construction Corp. He was previously project manager. McShane offers design-build firms.

Kal Schon was named senior business development manager in Milwaukee of Providence, R.I.-based Gilbane. He was previously manager for business development for Adolfson & Peterson in Eau Claire, Wis. Gilbane is a construction manager.

Booth Hansen Ltd. of Chicago has announced Edwin Chung and Christopher Guido were promoted to associate. Each was previously an architectural designer. Booth Hansen is an architecture practice.

Eve Earles, was named director of public engagement with the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and will act as a liaison for the Education Initiative, an affirmative action program the Mc4West LLC team has implemented. Mc4West is the joint venture constructing the West Building of the McCormick Place Convention Center. She was previously vice president of communications for the Chicago-based The Woodlawn Organization.

Julie Dunne was named director of business development of Rolling Meadows-based Gilfillan Callahan Architects. She was previously vice president of business development of Westmont-based Paul H. Schwendener Inc. Gilfillan is a design firm.

Andy Stevens , a foreman with Shelbyville, Ind.-based Runnebohm Construction Co. Inc., was one of seven finalists nationwide in the Associated Builders and Contractors Craft Professional of the Year competition. He was the finalist in the Specialty Craft - Concrete/Metal Building category.

Craig Mitchell was named construction services project manager of Crystal Lake-based Baxter & Woodman Consulting Engineers Inc. He was previously area construction supervisor for the Illinois Department of Transportation in Schaumburg. Baxter provides engineering services in water, wastewater and transportation.

Andrea Talley, was named marketing manager of the Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute in Schaumburg. She was previously marketing manager with St. Louis-based Distribution Control Systems Inc.

Kevin Allebach was named project manager of Milwaukee-based Hammel, Green and Abrahamson Inc.'s Arts, Community and Education Practice Group He was previously senior project manager with DWKCB in Hatfield, Pa. HGA is an architecture firm.

Spencer Jones, was name senior project manager of construction operations for Indianapolis-based Lauth Property Group. He was previously a senior manager of J.E. Dunn Construction Co. in Kansas City, Mo. Lauth is a developer and general contractor.

Tweet/Garot Mechanical of Green Bay, Wis., has announced Herb Hardt was named manager of business development and Robert Hale project manager/estimator and senior mechanical engineering technician. Hardt was previously a solutions account executive with Johnson Controls Inc. in Appleton, and Hale was previously a mechanical engineering technician with Jaakko Poyry in Marathon, Wis. Tweet/Garot is a mechanical contractor.

Michael Logan , was named of the new Chicago office of St. Louis-based Heitmann & Associates Inc. He was previously executive manager of preconstruction services in Chicago with Eagan, Minn.-based Enclos Corp. Heitmann is a building enclosure consultant.

Stan Czerwien ,has joined Chicago-based Higgins Development Partners. as senior vice president and chief financial officer. He was previously the chief financial officer for Anvan Co. in Lombard. Higgins is a development firm.

Joel Carlins , president of Chicago-based Magellan Development Group Ltd. , was named to board of directors of the Chicago Central Area Committee. The CCAC is a civic organization devoted to preserving the central area of Chicago as a center for commerce, industry and culture.

National Survey & Engineering of Brookfield, Wis., has announced that Ross Knodl project surveyor, was elected vice president of the Society of Southeast Wisconsin Land Surveyors in Milwaukee Chapter. Greg Kunz, surveying transportation manager, was elected the Milwaukee chapter state representative.

Mark Petrarca , was promoted to vice president of human resources and public affairs for Milwaukee-based A.O. Smith Corp. He was previously vice president of human resources of the firm's Water Products Co. Smith is a manufacturer of electric motors.
