HIRES

HOK of St. Louis has announced the additions in Chicago of Mark Lavender as project manager and Karen Vaccarello as director of business development/healthcare. Lavender was previously senior vice president/project manager with Chicago-based VOA Associates, and Vaccarello was previously director of business development of Indianapolis-based BSA LifeStructures. HOK is a design firm.

BSA LifeStructures of Indianapolis has announced Barbara Falconer was named director of business development in Chicago; Scott Weaver was named facility project manager in Indianapolis; and Andy Fish was named architect, also in Indianapolis. Falconer was previously associate in business development in Chicago for Detroit-based SmithGroup; Weaver was previously engineer with Performance Validation in Indianapolis; and Fish was previously professional partner in Indianapolis for Evansville-based Veazey Parrott Durkin & Shoulders. BSA is a design firm.

Karen Wolfert was named senior associate, project manager and health-care planner of Milwaukee-based Zimmerman Architectural Studios Inc. She was previously project manager with Milwaukee-based Plunkett Raysich Architects. Zimmerman is a design firm.

Skender Construction of Palos Hills has announced Mike Sikorski was named senior project manager and Brian Bukowski was named project engineer. Sikorski was previously senior project manager with Weis Builders in Rolling Meadows, and Bukowski was previously assistant project manager with Schaumburg-based Power Construction Co. Skender is a contractor.

Jamie Clapper Morris was named historic preservationist for Northbrook-based Wiss, Janney, Elstner & Associates Inc. She was previously an employee of the National Park Service. WJE provides structural engineering, architectural and materials science services.

Trivers Associates of St. Louis has announced John Kennedy was named senior architectural designer and Karla Zimmerman was named accounting manager. Kennedy was previously project manager with Fillon Solis Architects in San Francisco, and Zimmerman was previously a test analysis with Comsys in St. Louis. Trivers is an architecture firm.

John Rinderer was named superintendent in St. Louis of Kansas City, Mo.-based Walton Construction. He was previously superintendent with KCI Construction in St. Louis. Walton is a contractor.

National Survey & Engineering of Brookfield, Wis., has announced two project managers in the Land Development Services Division were named, Clifton Poynter III and Bill Wondrachek. Poynter was previously project manager with Losik Engineering Design Group in Brookfield, and Wondrachek was previously development manager with MP Land Inc. in Oconomowoc. National Survey provides civil engineering, planning and other services.

Jack Gibbons was named the Central Region Manager of the Schaumburg-based Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute. He was previously director of quality control for Prairie Materials in Chicago.

Linda Billingsly was named marketing manager in St. Louis of Kansas City, Mo.-based Burns & McDonnell. She was previously sales process manager for Englewood, Colo.-based CH2M Hill. Burns & McDonnell is an engineering firm.

Brian Mattei was named associate of Chicago-based OKW Architects. He was previously project coordinator at Myefski Cook Architects in Glencoe. OKW is a design firm.

PROMOTIONS

Stanley Consultants of Muscatine, Iowa, has announced that Gayle Roberts was named president and chief operating officer. She was previously senior vice president and business leader. She replaces Gregs Thomopulos, who was named chairman but retains the title of CEO. The previous chairman was Dick Stanley, who was named chairman emeritus but continues as a director. Stanley, which has an office in Chicago, is a civil engineering firm.

Lucien Lagrange Architects of Chicago announced the promotions of 11: Alfredo Marr to associate principal from senior manager; Amy Graves and Ray Meek, each to senior associate from associate; and James Kemper, to associate from senior architect. Advanced to senior architect from architect III were Orest Lang, Travis Rich and Mark Witte. Named architect III from architect II were Laura Himel and John Ruthven. Elevated to architect II from architect I were Jackie Diesing and Jessica Kindred. Lucien Lagrange is a design firm.

Nagle Hartray Danker Kagan McKay Penney Architects Ltd. of Chicago has announced the promotion of two to associate principal, Rocco Castellano and Monica Gruse-Hartman. Castellano was previously senior architect, and Gruse-Hartman was previously senior interiors designer. Nagle Hartray is a design firm.

Perkins Eastman of New York has announced the promotions of six in Chicago: Joseph Hassel and Jerry Walleck to associate principal from senior associate; Tom Arsovski and Dennis Ryan to senior associate from associate; Jennifer Dahl and Jason Dobbin to associate from untitled positions. Perkins Eastman is a design firm.

Skender Construction of Palos Hills has announced Afshan Barshan was named senior project manager and Eric Muchnik carpentry manager. Barshan was previously project manager, and Mucknik was previously cost analyst. Skender is a contractor.

Dale Vogel was named equipment coordinator of Indianapolis-based Cripe Architects + Engineers. He was previously project architect. Cripe is a design firm.

HONORS & APPOINTMENTS

Dick Mantia was named board member emeritus of PRIDE of St. Louis Inc. He helped co-found the organization in 1972 and was executive secretary-treasurer until 1992. Most recently, he was international representative and organizer of the Lanham, Md.-based International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers. PRIDE is a voluntary labor-management organization in construction.

Tarlton Corp. of St. Louis has announced George Fujii and Lee Burford were awarded LEED certification. Fujii is a senior project manager, and Burford is a project director. Tarlton is a construction management firm.

COMPANY NEWS

A merger was announced between Chicago-based Area Design Ltd. and Detroit-based SmithGroup. Area Design is a commercial interiors firm, and SmithGroup provides architecture, engineering and other services.

Top Notch of Indiana in Indianapolis has announced the expansion of its geographic boundaries to include Northeast Indiana and the Greater Lafayette area. Top Notch of Northeast Indiana and Top Notch of Greater Lafayette are now being managed by Top Notch of Indiana. Top Notch is a labor/management association in union construction.
