Dr. Allen Kemp was named chief medical officer of Madison, Wis.-based Marshall Erdman & Associates to lead planning. He previously served in various capacities with Dean Health System Inc. in Madison and is the chairman of the American Medical Group Association in Alexandria, Va., and HospiceCare Inc. in Madison. Erdman provides planning, designing and building services in the health care industry.

Lawrence Novak was named manager of buildings and special structures for the Skokie-based Portland Cement Association. He was previously associate partner of Chicago-based Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP.

Terra Engineering Ltd.of Chicago has announced the additions of David Albers as project manager in the Transportation Engineering Department; Tom Baumgartner as director of surveying; Matthew Dawson as senior project engineer in the Transportation Engineering Department; and Joe Jyawook as chief structural engineer. Albers was previously senior project engineer with Chicago-based Alfred Benesch & Co.; Baumgartner was previously owner of Cardinal Land Surveying in Plainfield, Ill.; Dawson was previously was civil/transportation engineer with DAS Consulting Services LLC in Peoria; and Jyawook comes out of retirement. TERRA is an engineering firm.

OKW Architects of Chicago has announced the additions of Gregory Sengstock as senior associate; Juan Antonio Castillo and Nicole Rogers as architects; and Peri Yue Peng as associate. Sengstock was previously director of architecture and construction operations for Pinehurst Homes in Pinehurst, N.C.; Castillo was previously intern architect/project manager with Lincolnshire-based Soos & Associates Inc.; Rogers was previously project architect with Glencoe-based Myefski Cook Architects; and Peng was previously architect with Chicago-based YAS Architecture. Lien Bui was named civil engineer of Springfield, Ill.-based Hanson Professional Services. She was previously drainage engineer for Christopher B. Burke Engineering Ltd. in Rosemont. Hanson provides architectural, engineering and management services.

Ines Tiu was named business development/marketing coordinator for higher education in Chicago of London-based Faithful & Gould. She was previously marketing coordinator with Chicago-based W.E. O’Neil Construction Co. Faithful & Gould provides commercial construction services.

Matthew Groves was named project manager/estimator of St. Louis-based Byrne & Jones Construction. He previously was project manager with St. Louis University. Byrne & Jones is an asphalt paving company.

Deanna Ding was named marketing manager in Milwaukee of Providence, R.I.-based Gilbane Building Co. She was previously marketing director of Davis & Kuelthau S.C. in Milwaukee. Gilbane is a contractor.

Scott Riedy was named project coordinator in St. Louis of Kansas City, Mo.-based Walton Construction. He was previously a student. Walton is a contractor.

Nicole Onesti was named proposal coordinator in Green Bay of Vernon Hills-based STS Consultants. She was previously proposal coordinator of Human Dental. STS provides site planning, design and construction engineering services.

PROMOTIONS

Clayco Inc. of St. Louis has announced Russ Burns was named president serves on the company’s board of directors. He was previously interim president. Four long-time employers were named to the ownership: Paul Giacoletto, Kevin McKenna, Tom Sieckhaus and P. Kirk Warden. Giacoletto is vice president of business development, McKenna is regional vice president, Sieckhaus is vice president and corporate facilities business unit leader and Warden is vice president and institutional business unit leader.

Booth Hansen of Chicago has announced seven were advanced to associate principal status: Joseph King, Joe Sperti, Linda Stephens, Todd Stevens, Aurelien Tsemo, Andy Weber and Laurie Woolverton. Booth Hansen is an architecture firm.

Ahern Fire Protection of Fond du Lac has announced the promotions of Doug Lackey to vice president of the Special Hazards Department and John Schotz to vice president of the St. Louis District. Lackey was previously special hazards department manager, and Schotz was previously district manager. Ahern Fire Protection is a division of J. F. Ahern Co., a mechanical and fire protection contractor.

Julie Machata was named manager of business development in Milwaukee of Providence, R.I.-based Gilbane Building Co. She was previously marketing manager. Gilbane is a contractor.

David Grindley was named project manager of Waukegan-based Boller Construction Co. He was previously field superintendent. Boller is a contractor.

Kristea Janas was advanced to business development/marketing manager in Chicago of London-based Faithful & Gould. She was previously marketing coordinator. Faithful and Gould provides commercial construction services.

HONORS AND APPOINTMENTS

Gyo Obata, founding partner of St. Louis-based HOK, has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the St. Louis Arts and Education Council. He was recognized for dedicating his life to architecture. HOK is a design firm.

Rodger Dorrah, senior HVAC designer with St. Louis-based Murphy Co., has received the Healthcare Facility Design Professional certification from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers in Atlanta. Murphy is a mechanical contractor.

Ryan Van Camp, project engineer with Appleton-based R.A. Smith & Associates Inc., was named Certified Professional in Erosion and Sedimentation Control by the Soil and Water Conservation Society and the International Erosion Control Association, in cooperation with the American Society of Agronomy in Madison, Wis. R.A. Smith provides civil engineering, planning, surveying and other services.
