HIRES

Alex Weiner was named vice president of business development of Chicago-based A. Epstein and Sons International. He was previously vice president of development of Chicago-based Centrum Properties. Epstein provides architecture, engineering and construction services.

Pete Sinsky was named chief financial officer of Kenosha-based Riley Construction Co. Inc. He was previously partner with Clifton Gunderson LLP in Kenosha. Riley is a contractor.

Rowland “Red” Hoslet was named business unit leader in the Wisconsin office of Lisle, Ill.-based Patrick Engineering Inc. He was previously Wisconsin transportation manager with STS Consultants in Green Bay. Patrick provides planning, engineering and other services.

Trivers Associates of St. Louis has announced the appointments of Peggy Berry as senior interior designer. She was previously senior interior designer with WHR Architects Inc. in Houston. David Lott and Andrew Rider were named architectural designers I. Both were previously students. Trivers is an architecture firm.

Douglas Sproul was named president of Yakima, Wash.-based Wilkinson Development LLC. He was previously CEO of Salem, Ore.-based KDA Construction Inc. Wilkinson, which has projects in Illinois, is a development firm.

Grant Lanham was named South St. Louis city operations specialist of St. Louis-based Vertegy. He was previously facility manager with parent firm Alberici Constructors. Vertegy provides design, procurement and construction-consulting services for green and sustainable facilities.

Yaphett El-Amin was named M/WBE program manager of St. Louis-based Kwame Building Group. She was previously a Missouri State Representative. Kwame provides program- and construction-management services.

PROMOTIONS

Steve Wiley was named vice president of preconstruction of Chicago-based James McHugh Construction Co. He was previously chief estimator. McHugh is a contractor.

Belinda Burke was named vice president of marketing & communications in the Indianapolis office of Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Hunt Construction Group. She was previously director of director of marketing. Hunt is a contractor.

Jim Peters was named president and CEO of Chicago-based Landmarks Illinois and succeeds the retiring David Bahlman. Peters was previously director of preservation planning. Landmarks Illinois is a preservation organization.

Michael Kennedy Jr. was named president of St. Louis-based KAI Design & Build. He was previously vice president of business development.

Anne Kelly was advanced to chief financial officer of Darien-based Wight & Co. She was previously controller. Wight is an A/E and construction firm.

PSA-Dewberry of Fairfax, Va., has announced the promotions in Illinois of James Cross to principal and Michael McLaren to senior associate. Cross was previously senior associate, and McLaren was previously associate. PSA-Dewberry is a design firm.

Ken Slaninka was named assistant director of in the Indianapolis office of Clearwater, Fla.-based TBE Group and remains senior project manager/branch leader. TBE provides subsurface utility engineering, three-dimensional underground imaging and other services.

HONORS & APPOINTMENTS

John Stern was named president of the Mechanical Contractors Association of Chicago. He is project manager of Arlington Heights-based Dahme Mechanical Industries Inc.

Sergio Pecori was named to serve on the Industry Advisory Panel of the Bureau of Overseas Building Operations of the U.S. Department of State. He is president and CEO of Springfield, Ill.-based Hanson Professional Services Inc., an engineering, architectural and management firm.

Robert Elsperman was appointed to the advisory council of the School of Civil Engineering of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. He is the president of St. Louis-based Tarlton Corp., a contracting firm.

Edmond Alizadeh was elected to the Board of Directors of the American Council of Engineering Cos. of Missouri as vice chairman. He is president and CEO of St. Louis-based Geotechnology Inc.

COMPANY NEWS

J.F. Ahern Co. of Fond du Lac, Wis., announced it has established the Energy Solutions Department. Its objective is to analyze the energy and utility consumption of buildings and to propose solutions for reducing energy consumption. Steve Rohde was named department manager. He was previously account executive with Johnson Controls in Waukesha. Ahern is a mechanical and fire-protection contractor.

McCarthy Building Cos. of St. Louis has announced it has received the Premier Performance Award presented by the Premier health care alliance’s Purchasing Partners unit. Charlotte, N.C.-based Premier Inc. serves more than 2,000 U.S. hospitals and 50,000 other health care sites. McCarthy is a contractor.
