HIRES

John Wilhelm was named associate vice president for construction administration of St. Louis-based Cannon Design. He was previously project manager for Duke Construction LLC in Chesterfield, Mo. Cannon is an architecture firm.

Scott Nelson was named healthcare principal in Chicago of Omaha, Neb.-based HDR Architecture Inc. He was previously director of healthcare in the Greater Western Mountain Region of Chicago-based OWP/P. HDR is a design firm.

Shiel Sexton of Indianapolis has announced the additions of Mike Patarino as group manager and Andy Sahm as business development manager. Previously, Patarino was vice president of construction operations for Indianapolis-based Lauth Property Group, and Sahm was director of business development of Construction Planning and Management in Indianapolis. Shiel Sexton is a contractor.

Michael Lubbers was named senior designer of Darien-based Wight & Co. He previously was design architect for the Chicago Office of CUH2A Inc., a division of Omaha, Neb.-based HDR Architecture. Wight provides architecture, engineering and construction services.

Jeff Eckstein was named project development manager in Milwaukee of Minneapolis-based Mortenson Construction. He was previously administrator of facilities development at Children’s Hospital and Health System in Milwaukee. Mortenson is a contractor.

Joseph Huffman was named business development manager in Kansas City, Mo., of St. Louis-based SAK Construction LLC. He was previously business development manager of Trekk Design Group LLC in Kansas City. SAK provides pipeline rehabilitation and tunneling services.

Ronald Roberts was named project director of St. Louis-based Kwame Building Group. He was previously project manager for Perini Building Co. in Las Vegas. Kwame is a construction- and program-management firm.

Lisa Orlovick was named administrative specialist with St. Louis-based Vertegy. She was previously project manager with the Promotional Marketing division of Corporate Express in St. Louis. Vertegy provides design, procurement and consulting services for sustainable facilities.

Jim Curran was named director of business development for the Electrical Connection in St. Louis. He was previously economic development director for the city of O’Fallon, Mo. The Electrical Connection is a partnership of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local One and union electrical contractors represented by the St. Louis Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association.

JoBeth Barker was named marketing coordinator of Indianapolis Downtown Inc. She was previously a student. IDI promotes the city.

PROMOTIONS

Chicago 2016 has announced Lori Healey was named president and Robert Ctvrtlik was named vice chairman for international relations. Previously, Healey was chief of staff to Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, and Ctvrtlik was vice president of the United States Olympic Committee. Mike Roberts is taking on an expanded role and continues as vice chairman of Chicago 2016. Chicago 2016 is the organizing committee for the city’s bid to host the Olympics.

Victoria Tasker was named marketing director/office manager of Bannockburn, Ill.-based Principle Construction Corp. She was previously office manager/senior administrative assistant. Principle is a general contractor.

Carolina Lopez was named associate and project manager in Chicago of Detroit-based SmithGroup. She was previously a project manager in the home office. SmithGroup is a design firm.

HONORS & APPOINTMENTS

Craig Brandt, design principal with Chicago-based Hammond Beeby Rupert Ainge, is the winner of the 2008 Dubin Family Young Architect Award and receives the $2,000 prize. The AIA Chicago Foundation-administered honor recognizes excellence in ability and exceptional contributions by Chicago-area architects between the ages of 25 and 39.

Michael Sturdivant, executive vice president of Green Bay-based Tweet/Garot Mechanical, is the recipient of the Contractor of the Year Award from the Mechanical Contractors Association of North Central Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Fox Valley Sheet Metal Contractors Association. This award recognizes Sturdivant’s career in the mechanical-contracting industry and his leadership roles in local, state and national associations.

Mark Zimmerman, vice president and business development director for Milwaukee-based Zimmerman Architectural Studios, has received the 2008 Mentor of the Year Award from Nativity Jesuit Middle School in Milwaukee. The award recognizes Zimmerman’s volunteer time and commitment to helping Latino youth complete their high school education and gain entrance into college. Zimmerman is a design firm.

COMPANY NEWS

DeStefano and Partners of Chicago is the recipient of the Firm Award from AIA Chicago. DeStefano received the honor for showing a high level of attention to design, including technical detailing and the principles of sustainability, according to the AIA. DeStefano is a design firm.

Christy Webber Landscapes Greenworks project in Chicago recently earned national recognition in the 2008 Innovative Design in Engineering and Architecture with Structural Steel awards program. The IDEAS2 awards recognize achievements in engineering and architecture on structural-steel projects.
