HIRES

Michelle Dremmer was named associate principal in Chicago of New York-based Perkins Eastman. She was previously a manager in the interiors practice in Chicago of Atlanta-based tvsdesign. Perkins Eastman is an architecture firm.

Chicago 2016 has announced that Kurt Summers was named chief of staff to President Lori Healey and Arnold Randall was named director of neighborhood legacies. Previously, Summers was an investment banker for Goldman Sachs, and Randall was commissioner in the Chicago Dept of Planning and Development. Chicago 2016 is the organizing committee for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

R.A. Smith National Inc. of Brookfield, Wis., has announced the additions of Matthew Buska as civil engineer, Cynthia DeBruine as senior water resources engineer and Gary Raasch as senior water resources project manager. Previously, Buska was a student, and DeBruine and Raasch each were employees of Hey & Associates of Brookfield, Wis. R.A. Smith provides services that include civil engineering, planning and surveying.

Greg Mueller was named project specialist of St. Louis-based Vertegy. He was previously project manager of the company’s parent, St. Louis-based Alberici Constructors. Vertegy provides design, procurement and construction consulting services for sustainable facilities.

PROMOTIONS

Alfred Benesch & Co. of Chicago has announced the promotions of five: John Carrato to president and chief executive officer from senior vice president; John (Jack) Kweder to chief operating officer from senior vice president; Kevin Fitzpatrick to manager of the Chicago Division from construction group manager; Laura McGovern to assistant division manager while continuing as manager of the Civil Group; and David Morrill as manager of the Structural Group while continuing as assistant division manager. Benesch is a consulting firm specializing in civil, structural and construction engineering.

Steve Giacin was promoted to president of Fenton, Mo.-based Kaiser Electric. He was previously vice president of operations. Kaiser is an electrical contractor.

Gilbane Building Co. of Providence, R.I., has announced the promotions of three in Chicago: Michael Brown to vice president of the Special Projects Group from vice president and regional business development manager; James Arends to regional business development manager while continuing as the healthcare services manager; and Douglas Lim to district manager from senior business development manager. Gilbane is a contractor.

J.H. Findorff and Son of Madison, Wis., has announced the promotions of Deana Turner to senior project manager and Fred Lind to project manager. Previously, Turner was project manager, and Lind was project engineer. Findorff is a general contractor.

Indianapolis Downtown Inc. has announced the promotions of Jennifer Hanson to communications director, Anne Maschmeyer to beautification director and Carol Mullins to beautification manager. Previously, Hanson was communications manager, Maschmeyer was beautiful manager and Mullins was beautification coordinator. IDI promotes Indianapolis.

HGA Architects and Engineers of Minneapolis has announced the promotions of two in Milwaukee to associate vice president, Chad O’Donnell and Paula Verboomen. Both were previously senior associates.

Brian Kimpel was named senior associate of Madison, Wis.-based Leggette, Brashears & Graham Inc. He was previously associate. LBG provides groundwater and environmental-engineering services.

Ted Moudis Associates of New York has announced the promotions of two in Chicago, Laura Operti to associate and Diana Pisone to project director. Previously, Operti was project director, and Pisone was project manager. Moudis is an architecture firm.

HONORS & APPOINTMENTS

Mike Whaley, director of preconstruction for Madison, Wis.-based J.H. Findorff & Son, was appointed to serve as a member of the American Institute of Architects’ 2009 Board for Integrated Practice/ Integrated Project Delivery. It provides guidance to the AIA Board for its strategic plan. Findorff is a general contractor.

John Miller, general manager of the Iron Sentry Roofing division of Corona, Calif.-based MCPU Polymer Engineering, has received a Special Service Award from the Metal Construction Association in Glenview, Ill. He has been involved in code work since 1989 and is known for his comprehensive codes knowledge.

COMPANY NEWS

Lockwood, Andrews & Newman Inc. of Houston has opened an office in Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., and will focus on water-management projects in Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. Warren Green was named to serve as its director. LAN is a planning, engineering and program management firm.

GREC Architects of Chicago has announced the opening of its new headquarters, a 12,000-sq-ft office at 401 E. Illinois St.
