HIRES

Peter Dombrowski was named manager of the Structural Department in the Arlington Heights office of Columbus, Ohio-based DLZ. He was previously project engineer with Chicago-based Samartano & Co. DLZ is a consulting engineering firm.

Dennis Kluge was named director of interior architecture in Chicago of Waukegan-based Legat Architects Inc. He was previously senior vice president and studio director of Chicago-based Interior Space International Inc. Legat is a design firm.

Tom Gruman was named safety director of Janesville-based J.P. Cullen & Sons Inc. He was previously safety director and equipment manager of Waukesha-based Gruman Construction Inc. Cullen is a contractor.

Steve Riforgiato was named membership manager of Chicago Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. He was previously he was marketing and merchandising manager for the Glessner House Museum in Chicago.

Richard Winston was named senior planning manager in the Chicago office of New York-based PB. He was previously executive vice president for transit operations of the Chicago Transit Authority. PB is a consulting, engineering and program-management firm.

Neal Anderson was named vice president of engineering of the Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute in Schaumburg. He was previously an engineer with Northbrook-based Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates Inc.

Clayco Inc. of St. Louis has announced John Gillespie was named project manager and Allison Bruns was named market research and development/communications specialist. Gillespie was previously project manager of St. Louis-based Alberici, and Bruns was previously senior specialist of St. Louis-based Fleishman-Hillard International Communications. Clayco provides development, design and construction services.

PROMOTIONS

Wight & Co. of Darien has announced the promotions of Patrick Cermak to president and chief operating officer, Jack Hayes to vice president of strategic planning and Beth Smith to vice president of employee relations. Previously, Cermak was executive vice president, Hayes was vice president and director of business development and Smith was human resources director. Other promotions include Ray Prokop to vice president and director of construction from vice president of construction; Terence Moeller tovice president anddirector of architecture from vice president of architecture; Byron Wynsto director, land development engineering from senior project manager; Jorge Hoyos to director, estimating and quality control from director of estimating; Elizabeth Koski, to director, marketing and communications from construction sales manager; Jason Dwyer to project executive from senior project manager; and Jim Nagle to project executive from senior project manager. Wight provides architecture, engineering and construction services.

Tom Gunkel was elected chief executive officer and continues as president of Minneapolis-based Mortenson Construction. He was previously chief operating office, in addition to president. Mortenson is a contractor.

David MacDonald was named senior vice president in Chicago of the Multi-Site Group of New York-based Bovis Lend Lease Inc. He was previously vice president of the Multi-Site Group. Bovis is a construction manager.

David Sampl was promoted to vice president of the Financial Services Group of St. Louis-based Kwame Building Group. He was previously the group’s project director. Kwame is a contractor.

Daniel Queenan was advanced to executive vice president in Chicago of Minneapolis-based Opus North Corp. He was previously vice president and general manager of real estate and construction operations. Opus is a developer and contractor.

Tweet/Garot Mechanical Inc. of Green Bay has announced the promotions of Michael Sturdivant to executive vice president and Raymond Withbroe to chief operating officer. Previously, Sturdivant was vice president of the HVAC Division, and Withbroe was vice president of the Industrial Division. Tweet/Garot is a mechanical contractor.

Michael Compton was named executive vice president of preconstruction of Fenton, Mo.-based Kaiser Electric Inc. He was previously director of design-build. Kaiser provides electrical contracting and engineering services.

HGA Architects and Engineers of Minneapolis has announced the promotions of three in Milwaukee to associate vice president: Mark Debrauske from project designer; Kevin Kerschbaum from project manager; and Matthew Mikolainis from structural engineer. HGA is a design firm.

Hanson Professional Services of Springfield, Ill., has announced Thomas Bartolomucci is taking on new responsibilities by being named project delivery services manager. He continues as vice president. Lisa Costello was named proposal coordinator. She was previously administrative assistant. Hanson provides architectural, engineering and management services.

J.H. Findorff & Son Inc. of Madison, Wis., has announced the promotions of Mike Whaley to director of preconstruction, Jeff McLean to director of project management and Bob Hougard to director of field operations-Milwaukee. Previously, Whaley was a preconstruction employee, McLean was senior project manager and Hougard was also senior project manager. Findorff is a contractor.

Mark Harrison was named manager of the O’Fallon, Ill., office of Kansas City, Mo.-based Burns & McDonnell. He was previously associate civil engineer and project manager. Burns & McDonnell is an engineering, construction and environmental service firm.

Theodore Feenstra Jr. was named director of land development services of Woodridge-based V3 Cos. of Illinois. He was previously leader of the Residential Services group. V3 is an engineering firm.

HONORS AND APPOINTMENTS

Rik Master was named president of the Chicago chapter of the American Institute of Architects. He has served on the organization’s board of directors since 2003 and is a manager of architectural systems for Chicago-based USG Corp.

Mark Ladd has received the AIA Illinois John Wellborn Root Award for exemplary service or design talent of an AIA architect licensed for 10 years or less. He is managing director of Millennium Development Group LLC, a partnership of Chicago-based U.S. Equities Realty and Detroit-based Walbridge Aldinger Co.
