Asphalt Paver

The AP-655C asphalt paver features an 8-ft.-wide rubber track and operating weight of 40,800 lbs. The Caterpillar 3056E ATAAC diesel engine has six cylinders and operates at 2,200 rpm, producing 130 kilowatts of power. Because the engine is turbocharged, it does not require derating at altitudes below 7,000 ft. Speed sensors in the track motors provide constant information to the steering/propel controller that increases or decreases pump stroke to maintain or achieve the desired response due to steering wheel position or speed. The Mobil-trac System undercarriage combines the traction and flotation benefits of a crawler undercarriage with the mobility, speed and ride characteristics of a wheel-type paver. For information, call Caterpillar Paving Products at (763) 712-3001.

Bark Blower

The BB605 Bark Blower has been upgraded. The unit is reportedly the industry's only 60-plus horsepower, 4.5-cu.-yd. capacity unit for use in trailer or skid applications. The hydraulic system has been resdesigned to handle greater workloads. A hydraulic oil cooler has also been added to accommodate higher demand and higher horsepower. A fan-powered heat exchanger enables the unit to operate at cooler hydraulic temperatures, extending the life of the components. The BB605 offers a front feeder conveyor, an option that can be used to feed the machine during operation from a towing vehicle. Die Grinder

The G500 die grinder is ideal for deburring, sharpening and grinding applications in constrained areas. The unit is 9 in. long and has an ergonomic shape that reportedly minimizes operator fatigue. The G500 has a 4.4-amp motor that provides 27,000 rpms of no-load speed (16,000 rpms at rated load). The unit is equipped with a hardened and ground quarter-inch collet to ensure accurate balance of fitted attachments. An optional 1/8-in. collet is available. A selection of accessories provides the G500 with range to tackle multiple jobs. An attached tool rest keeps the unit steady during accessory changes. Fault Finder

The Verifier Vision FaultFinder allows users to pinpoint buried electric and telecommunication cables and trace and identify cable depth. The adjustable 3-watt transmitter is protected for up to 250 volts of power. Voltage and ohm meters enable the user to identify and measure a suspected fault. The fault is located by rotating a knob to place the unit in fault-finding mode. High peak-to-peak output enables detection of high-resistance faults over long distances. Receiver sensitivity distinguishes high and low resistance and multiple faults. Colored directional arrows on the LCD and matching arrows on the A-frame point in the direction of the fault. Telescopic Handler

The Lull 644E-42 PlaceAce Series rough-terrain telescopic handler has a maximum lift capacity of 6,000 lbs., maximum lift and landing height of 42 ft. each, maximum forward reach of 35.6 ft. and maximum reach below grade of 2.6 ft. A Cummins 4BT3.9 turbo diesel rated at 99 horsepower powers the unit. The transmission is a modulated power shift featuring four-speed forward and three-speed reverse. The frame and boom's PlaceAce system reportedly accelerates load placement by moving the boom 80 in. along a horizontal plane without requiring the machine to be repositioned. For information, call OmniQuip Textron at (262) 268-4432.

Service Bodies

The Knapheide KUV Series Service Bodies are offered for Ford Commercial Pool's E-Series utility vans. The bodies are available for Ford's SRW E350, DRW E350 and DRW E450 models and come installed on the van chassis as a unit. The KUV Series include a five-year warranty and K-Coat, or complete immersion electrocoat priming for rust resistance. The body shell is constructed of 14-gauge, two-sided, A-40 galvanized steel. The "return-flange" floor design provides support for side compartments and reportedly adds floor strength, and reinforced doors add durability. Standard equipment includes 250-lb. capacity adjustable shelving in interior and exterior compartments, wind deflector and a solid sliding cab access door with glass window.
