St. Louis Park-based RJM Construction began building the Coon Rapids, Minn., Ice Arena in September on Coon Rapids Boulevard to replace the existing ice arena.
The 55,000-sq-ft arena will have a 45,000-sq-ft first floor and a 10,000-sq-ft second floor mezzanine when it is complete in the fall 2011. Preconstruction services began when the city council formally awarded the project to RJM in May.
RJM was awarded the project along with architectural firm Perkins+Will after the city issued RFPs to construction manager firms for the final design and construction phases of the arena. Since May, RJM has been providing preconstruction services to review the earlier construction budget as well as update the budget and schedule to reflect most recent plans.
